Who is Kim Jong-il?

Kim Jong-il (born 16 February 1941 at Wjatskoje: officially, 16 February 1942, at the Paektusan, Province Chosen, Empire of Japan; † 17 December 2011, North Korea), General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK), Chairman of the national Defense Commission of the Democratic people’s Republic of Korea and Supreme commander of the Korean People’s army (KPA), was after the death of his father Kim Il-sung in 1994, the supreme ruler of the Democratic people’s Republic of Korea (North Korea).

In North Korea Kim Jong-il was the center of a cult leader, outside the country of his reign was seen as a dictatorial, marked by human rights regime, the impoverishment of the population had resulted. As his successor he had appointed his youngest son, Kim Jong-un.
