Flash Flooding in India Kills Over 100 People

Srinagar – The floods not only hit Pakistan, but also its neighbors, India. At least 113 people were killed and 400 more were injured in flash floods in Ladakh, known as a location for foreign tourist’s tour.

Floods caused by torrential rains that intense, up through Leh, the main city in the Ladakh region, described the Minister of Tourism of India, Nawang Rigzin Jora, as “the damage that has never happened before“.

So far, we have no reports exist of foreign tourists among the dead, but some were stranded on the Leh-Manali road. Army rescue teams have been sent there,” said Jora as reported by AFP on Saturday (08/07/2010).

Recording television show reminiscent of the earthquake, with collapsed buildings and downed power lines. Residents also scratched knee-high mud to dig out victims from the rubble.

We now have received 113 bodies and we’ve got dozens of people who are still missing,” said a senior police officer.
